According to the Naval Ordnance Department The Thai Navy plans to purchase 5.56mm AK-201 Russian rifles, total 500 units for 45,000,000 baht ($ 1,387,240.65) or per barrel 900,000 baht ($ 2,774.65) for the Eastern Marines Scout Task Force

It can be seen that when compared with the rifle from the west, such as Colt M16A4 in the amount of 450 units, costing 23,4006,986.16 baht ($ 721,769.54) for the Royal Thai Naval Academy. The price of the M16A4 long rifle, the US average price per barrel 52,015.548 baht ($ 1,604.48) shows the fact that Russian guns procured through Rosoboronexport Russian arms export agencies and Thai distribution companies are more expensive contrary to the belief that Russian weapons are cheap.

Rusia ofrece fábrica de Kalashnikov a Filipinas

Russia Offers Joint Project for AK Rifles Factory in Philippines

Kalashnikov rifles

MANILA, Philippines — As bilateral ties become warmer, Russia believes it is time for the Philippines to “diversify” defense and other forms of cooperation with other countries, without damaging its traditional alliances.

As part of a blossoming “partnership,” Russia is proposing, among others, a joint project with the Philippines for the production of assault rifles, including Kalashnikovs, in this country.

“Last year… we proposed organizing a joint production facility here, to jointly produce Russian assault rifles,” Russian Ambassador Igor Khovaev told “The Chiefs” last night on Cignal TV’s One News channel.

Khovaev, however, said there has been no response so far from the Philippine government.

He stressed that Russia’s proffered hand of partnership has no “hidden agenda” or political strings attached.

“Russia has experience of supplying arms and military weapons to Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, so it’s time to be open-minded. It’s time to diversify. Diversify cooperation with no damage to your traditionally close relationship with the some other allies,” Khovaev said,

The Kalashnikov range of assault rifles includes the AK-47 – Avtomat Kalashnikov or Kalashnikov’s Automatic Rifle, arguably the most widely used of its kind in the world. Developed by Mikhail Kalashnikov, the AK-47 was first used by Soviet forces in 1949.

Kalashnikov also produces shotguns, rifles, pistols and ammunition.

Asked about the status of his proposal, Khovaev replied, “I hope it’s still under consideration.”

The proposal is likely to be blocked by the United States, with which the Philippines has a defense alliance.

Last month, during a visit to Manila, Randall Schriver, US assistant secretary of defense for Asian and Pacific security affairs, cautioned Manila against buying military hardware from US rival Russia. Schriver issued the statement as Philippine defense officials were reportedly considering the acquisition of a submarine from Russia.

President Duterte slammed Schriver’s statement, saying, “Is that the way you treat an ally?… You want us to stay with you for all time? Who are you to warn us?”

Reacting to Schriver’s warning, Khovaev emphasized that the US and other traditional allies of the Philippines should not interfere in the bilateral cooperation between Manila and Moscow and the choices made by the two countries, including defense cooperation and acquisition of arms and weapons.

Rusos sacan Sturmgewehr 44 de estatua de Kalashnikov

Nazi gun removed from statue of AK-47 founder Mikhail Kalashnikov in Moscow

DW
Russian authorities have corrected a mistake in part of a statue that honors the developer of one of Russia's most famous exports. Muscovites noticed the error in the 7.5 meter monument and alerted city chiefs.

Workers have removed an illustration of a gun used by the German army during the Second World War from a new monument honoring Mikhail Kalashnikov, the Russian inventor of the widely recognized AK-47 rifle, three days after the statue's unveiling in Moscow.

The sculptor, Salavat Scherbakov, admitted the mistake on Friday after angry locals discovered that the metal bas-relief behind the statue of Kalashnikov included an image of the Sturmgewehr 44 ("storm rifle"), an assault rifle used by Nazi forces in the later years of the Second World War.

Hours later, a worker used an angle grinder to remove the illustration of the rifle, according to news agency AFP, leaving a square hole in the bas-relief that depicts lesser known weapons designed by Kalashnikov alongside the AK-47.

Russian authorities presented the seven-meter (23-feet) high statue of the inventor, who died in 2013, in central Moscow on Tuesday in a ceremony that included a military parade.

Russia inaugurated the statue to celebrate the work of Mikhail Kalashnikov on Tuesday with much pomp

Speaking at the event, Russian Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky called the AK-47 a "cultural brand for Russia" and its founder a man who symbolized "the best attributes of a Russian."

Kalashnikov became a hero in his native Soviet Union for designing the "Avtomat Kalashnikova 1947" (AK-47) that many experts consider one of the most effective guns ever invented.

Russian armies used the rifle for over 60 years and the weapon continues to be in service in over 50 countries today. According to gun's manufacturer, every fifth firearm is a Kalashnikov and over 100 million have been produced.

The weapon has long been associated with revolutionary militant groups, many of which used the relatively cheap weapon since its invention in 1947.

By C. J. Chivers

Izhmash Gets $390M Order

IZHVESK, Udmurt Republic — Izhmash arms factory, manufacturer of the legendary Kalashnikov assault rifle, has won a 13 billion ruble ($390 million) Defense Ministry tender for antitank missiles, the company said Monday, in one of its "largest state orders in recent years."
Izhmash is to deliver Vikhr-1 long-range, supersonic armor-piercing missiles by the end of 2015, company chief executive Konstantin Busygin said.
The Vikhr-1 contract will enable Izhmash to tackle almost all of its financial problems, he said in late May, adding that its current debt stood at 3 billion rubles.
Busygin also said the company had asked the Russian government for financial assistance to complete its merger with gunmaker Izhmekh under the Kalashnikov brand. The two companies, both based in the city of Izhevsk, have been experiencing financial difficulties and a sharp drop in production output.
The two enterprises will become the new Kalashnikov Corporation, first proposed by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, who oversees defense industry. It is due to be registered in time for Russia's Arms Makers' Day, September 19.
Izhmash, which produces over 70 types of weaponry, including firearms, aircraft guns and precision artillery rounds, as well as a variety of sporting and hunting weapons, previously said it expected to sign 14.2 billion rubles worth of contracts for precision-guided weapons, without specifying the timeframe.
Izhmash has been manufacturing Kalashnikovs since the world-famous assault rifle first went into series production in 1949, while Izhmekh is best known for producing Makarov and Yarygin pistols, according to the companies.

“Hemos renunciado (a esas compras)…
