La Armada de Filipinas continúa reforzando su flota con la última actualización del nuevo HDC 320 Corvette BRP Miguel Malvar.

Fotos recientes revelan que este buque está equipado con el sistema de armas de corto alcance CIWS de 35 mm de doble cañón de Aselsan Gokdeniz, de fabricación turca, montado en la superestructura del hangar del buque.

El CIWS Gokdeniz de 35 mm se encuentra entre los sistemas más avanzados del mundo diseñado para proporcionar una defensa cercana confiable contra amenazas aéreas y de misiles. Esta arma de doble cañón ofrece una protección eficaz al barco en situaciones de combate intensas.

La confirmación de la instalación de Aselsan CIWS en el BRP Miguel Malvar refuerza también los rumores anteriores sobre un contrato de suministro entre Aselsan y Hyundai Heavy Industries para este sistema.

At EDEX 2018, being held until December 5 in Cairo, Egypt, the German defense group Rheinmetall is proposing its brand new Oerlikon Revolver Gun Mk3 to the Egyptian Armed Forces.

The remotely controlled air defence gun is considered a flexible solution against multifaceted targets. ntegrated into the 35mm platform are a tracking/sensor unit with X-band tracking radar and electro-optical sensors as well as electronic warfare components. This enables swift, autonomous engagement of externally assigned targets.

Two soldiers are required for the preparation of the Oerlikon Revolver Gun Mk3. Being remotely controlled increases the safety of personnel.

The Oerlikon Revolver Gun Mk3 can receive and process target data from 2D and 3D search radars. Integrated sensors and a fire control computer give the system an autonomous surveillance and target engagement capability. It can be controlled from a higher-echelon command post or via an operator station to which up to eight guns can be connected.

The tried-and-tested 35mm x 228 automatic cannon delivers compelling firepower and high precision. Coupled with Rheinmetall’s proprietary AHEAD airburst technology, the Oerlikon Revolver Gun Mk3 is extremely effective against practically all air and ground targets.

At Eurosatory 2016 Rheinmetall is presenting its new air defence gun as a possible effector for the Oerlikon Skynex – the Group’s new design for a fully networked, future ground-based air defence system.

Rheinmetall has received an order for its Millenium Gun 35mm naval weapon system to outfit Indonesia's two new Sigma 10514 Perusak Kawal Rudal (PKR) light frigates.

Damen handed over the first frigate in February this year, with the second undergoing contractor sea trials at press time (late May). Delivery of this ship is planned for October 2017. The primary mission of the 105m, 2,365 tonne ships is anti-air, anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare. Secondary roles include maritime security, search and rescue and humanitarian support.

DTR believes four Millenium Gun systems are part of the Indonesian order. Each Sigma 10514 PKR frigate is allocated one Millenium Gun system installed forward of the bridge. The first Sigma 10514 PKR frigate was delivered without its Millenium Gun system, although the plinth mount is visible in photographs.

Able to fire Rheinmetall's Advanced Hit Efficiency And Destruction (AHEAD) programmable 35mm ammunition, a single Millenium Gun mount can operate as both CIWS and secondary armament on surface combatants of various sizes. Millenium Gun's Oerlikon revolver cannon fires at up to 1,000 rounds per minute. Using AHEAD ammunition natures, figures from Rheinmetall cite that a 25-round burst can achieve a kill a manned aircraft at 3,500m against guided missiles/cruise missiles at 2,000m and against a sea-skimming anti-ship missile at 1,500m. Keep out range against surface targets is approximately 4,000m.

The Indonesian Air Force already operates the Oerlikon 35mm revolver cannon as the effector elements of its land-based Skyshield very short-range air defence system. These system can be ground or truck-mounted.

Rheinmetall will supply four Oerlikon Skyguard 3 fire control systems and eight 35mm Oerlikon GDF007 Twin Guns 

For the first time ever, the Royal Thai Army has awarded Rheinmetall a major contract for air defence technology. The multi-million euro order encompasses four latest-generation Skyguard systems.

In all, the Group’s Swiss subsidiary Rheinmetall Air Defence will be supplying Thailand with four Oerlikon Skyguard 3 fire control systems and eight 35mm Oerlikon GDF007 Twin Guns. The order also includes Rheinmetall’s tried-and-tested and unique Ahead airburst ammunition and additional services.



For Rheinmetall Air Defence, the Royal Thai Army is another new customer in Asia who introduces a 35mm air defence system. Rheinmetall thus attaches great commercial importance to this recently awarded contract.
