Along with her sister ship LHD ship - HMAS Canberra, they provide the Australian Defence Force (ADF) with a combined amphibious deployment system most capable and sophisticated in the world. The warship can start, transport and deployed military forces and assets along with alutsistanya aviation supportability. Purpose built boat will allow the transport of troops and equipment to the beach, including where there are no facilities no fixed port facilities.

This capability is particularly useful for military operations other than war (MOOTW), in particular natural disaster relief operations that often occurs Asteng region and the South Pacific.
