Commander Espora Naval Air Base
The first aerial refueling training was conducted
05/08/2010 | It is one of joint operations that are carried out annually between the Naval Air Squadron and several units of the Air Force. It is the first of its kind in the two scheduled for this year.
ESPORA - The first joint operation carried out this year between the Second Attack Naval Air Squadron, with Super Etendard aircraft (SUE) and the Aviation Brigade of the Air Force Argentina, with KC-130 Hercules aircraft.
Practice consisted of refueling in flight activity quedurante the South Atlantic conflict, allowed the squad SUE that comply with its mission, sinking two vessels (HMS Sheffield Conveyor Atlantic ACL) and damaged another (HMS Invincible).
The operation was carried out successfully, contributing to the training of crews of both the Hercules as the SWE, as well as the joint action between the two forces. It also allowed to verify the proper functioning of the systems, as they are of vital importance for the development of combat missions, increasing the range of attack aircraft.
The activity began at the Naval Air Commander Spore, where he arrived a KC-130 Hercules from the 1st Air Brigade. There he made the pre-flight operation with pilots SUE, what followed resupply flights planned. During the same were made couplings dry (no fuel switching) and humid (with transfer).
The first flight, in particular, demanded a lot of pilots and crews, as it was developed with very bad weather conditions, resulting in the freezing of aircraft windshields and a lot of clouds at different levels, hampering visibility between aircraft.
