PARIS (Reuters) - Negotiations with Indonesia on an order for 36 Rafale, a fighter plane from Dassault Aviation, are "very well advanced", French Minister of the Armed Forces Florence Parly said on Thursday.
This order “is not yet quite signed, we have worked a lot on it”, said Florence Parly, interviewed on BFM Business. “It's very well advanced.”
Citing several corroborating sources, the La Tribune website had previously reported that Indonesia wanted to quickly finalize an agreement on the purchase of 48 Rafale fighter jets.
Paris and Jakarta also intend to sign a defense cooperation agreement, according to La Tribune, adding that the Indonesians “would like to go very quickly and would even like an agreement before the end of the year while the French negotiators would like take a little time to carefully complete a deal ”.
The case was raised at the end of October during the visit to Paris of the Indonesian Minister of Defense, Prabowo Subianto, who, according to La Tribune, reiterated the “keen interest” of Jakarta in the Rafale.
