Indonesia Cancelled AN/TPS-77 Radar Plan

MFH has earlier reported that the US Government will be donating three AN/TPS-77 long range air defence radars to Malaysia and Indonesia as part of its Maritime Security Initiative (MSI). It seems that the Malaysians have been at the right path towards making such plan a reality following recent training held by Washington Air National Guard (ANG) for Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) personnel involving several types of radars including the AN/TPS-77.
On the other hand, it seems that the Indonesians have cancelled the plan although no details have been given over the reasons as to it was cancelled. That said, usually such cancellation was not from the US government, but from potential recipient country as could be seen from the recent cancellations by the Malaysian Governments on the former US Navy SEAL’s SOC-V special operation craft and the former US Army’s M109 self propelled howitzers.
Despite this, the cancellation of AN/TPS-77 by Indonesia will not affect the country as it is striving towards procuring modern, newer built air defence radars to boots its airspace surveillance.
