The Vietnamese army practiced using the Soviet BM-14 BM-14 Multiple Launch Rocket System to attack coastal targets.

The Vietnamese rehearsal department was noted by the Russian RG site, who commented that although the BM-14 did not have the range and precision needed to hit enemy ships, they still successfully cope with the light armored amphibian vehicles are approaching shore.

RG commented that this MLRS complex has 16 launch tubes to fire a 140 mm jet fragment bullet. Each bullet weighs 39 kg, length 1,086 mm, cruising speed over 400m/s. The minimum firing range for bullets is 1,000 meters and while the maximum combat range is up to 9,800 meters.

The 4.20 kg warhead of BM-14 ammunition is believed by analysts to be powerful enough to neutralize a floating armored vehicle or some type of amphibian armor.

To set up a smoke screen camouflage to help conceal forces from enemy sight, smoke bullets will be used. The duration of the series of launches is about 10 seconds.

The launch of the launcher was carried out on the chassis of the ZIL-131 three-axle cross-country truck. The vehicle's cabin is covered with an armored curtain that can recline.

In addition to the BM-14 series launch jet artillery system, RG said that many other aging weapons such as the T-34-85 tank, the SU-100 self-propelled gun, various types of artillery, including the ZiS-3 also still used for coastal defense.

RG added, in addition, the Vietnam Army also has a series of advanced anti-ship missile systems. There is information on the construction of the launch pad based on the KamAZ truck chassis, designed to use the Russian version of the Kh-35 missile produced in Vietnam.
