Kongsberg Defence Australia today announced that it has selected Sydney-based communications company Eylex as their cable system provider for the ADF Short Range Ground Based Air Defence capability being delivered under Project Land 19 Phase 7B.

In partnership with Raytheon Australia, Kongsberg will deliver a National Advanced Surface to Air Missile System (NASAMS) for the Australian Army. NASAMS is a state-of-the-art weapons system with beyond-visual-range capability that will enable the Army to quickly detect, engage and destroy aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, and cruise missile threats. It is operational or being delivered to ten other nations.

Eylex will manufacture and supply cable systems for the NASAMS Fire Distribution Centres, Battery Operations Centres and NASAMS Classrooms Trainers.

Eylex is one of several Australian companies that will be selected into the Kongsberg supply chain and follows the successful completion of an extensive source selection process, including an assessment of Eylex’s product range, technical expertise and production management systems.

Assistant Defence Minister and Minister for International Development and the Pacific Alex Hawke, whose electorate of Mitchell includes the Eylex headquarters, welcomed the announcement.

“Eylex is an outstanding example of an Australian owned Defence industry business. I have met and visited Eylex on numerous occasions and I’m thrilled that they are continuing to be a key supplier for Australian Defence programs,” Minister Hawke said.

Kongsberg Defence Australia General Manager John Fry said the selection of Eylex reinforces the company's commitment to partnering with Australian suppliers and industry.

“Kongsberg Defence Australia is proud to partner with a fantastic company such as Eylex, who meet the highest standard of capability and product performance," Fry said.
